Ok, so I have set up my profile wiki and my blog, I must say that without a little help from friends directing me in the right direction I probably would still be lost.
This experience has been a great help to me by showing me how much ICT is relevant in the classroom at present and also giving me the feel for the unknown and realising that if I play around exploring online I will learn more. It is also great to see everyone else’s story and hear about what they have to say.
Getting my students to discuss how much they know about ICT and getting them to show me and others students how they can do things will be a great way for myself to learn new things. Also this will be using different methods of teaching which may allow some students to understand more through what their peers are saying rather than me speaking.
Constructivism has been used in this course because it has specific framework and scaffolding but we, as learners, are encouraged to move and explore in a way that is individual and that we are comfortable with. By having the steps to follow to set up our wiki was a great help. Using cognitivist and breaking a task down so we could follow step instructions allows us to achieve the task in a more successful manner. Behaviourism could be referred to when addressed in a classroom. When teachers use new approaches students usually become interested and more attentive which therefore could minimize negative behaviour in the classroom for a period of time.
We can use connectivism in the profiles and blogs to connect and read about each other’s ideas. Additionally, when we are constructing these we can ask people what they think of our work and any suggestions they may have which can help us. Also we can add our thoughts into the forums which allow us get to know others and how they are going with the same process. Therefore they whole time we are sharing our knowledge with everyone and allowing new ideas to float around.
I believe that the diversity in this specific area is not widespread. As ICT is new and growing area, there are a lot of students ‘out of the loop’ technologically speaking. For our profile to be set up, I believe there is a high level of understanding of both, Moodle and ICT required to accomplish this task with ease. This course is offered online so the only way to contribute to this is through and eLearning environment which forces us to practice and understand methods to create our assessment pieces.
